Max Hypermarkets -

developing home-grown
retailing experiences in India.

Bringing the full hypermarket experience to India's burgeoning middle-class, with the extra challenge of folding a typical plan into multi-storey super-high density retail sites.

Max Hypermarkets, India
Project
Creation of new shopping experience
Role
Architecture and retail design, retail identity, consultancy, signage and project management
Landmark Dubai invited Meda to deliver a hypermarket format that would be compatible with global standards while accommodating local influences.

Our brief was to create hypermarket design blueprints for 7,500-square metre and 4,500-square metre stores, on one level, encompassing the following areas:
- Operations
- Equipment
- Store planning
- Branding and positioning
- Signage / Communication design
- Internal design.

The aim was to develop a hypermarket solution for the Indian market that leveraged the company's retail experience, in order to deliver a unique and defensible consumer offer that generates maximum profitability.

Here's a snapshot of what customers were saying after the opening:
“Huge Spar hypermarket, well organised, making shopping really hassle-free”
“I think this kind of international-standard hypermarket is the first in Bangalore”
“I am pretty sure this will be Bangaloreans’ favourite hypermarket in no time – a Dubai-Singapore kind of shopping experience.”

Here's just a small selection of images from the project. For more information and a full case study, please drop us an email.
